LGBTQ+ in Aikido

A global community call, "LGBTQ+ in Aikido."

The first video introduces us to young panelists mostly at the beginning of their Aikido journey. The second video introduces us to four 6th dan Aikido instructors who started Aikido in the 70's and 80's.

In both videos, panelists discuss such issues as acceptance, inclusivity, gender norms, social power structures, and of course, what dojo-cho can do to ensure that their dojos are safe spaces for LGBTQ+ people.
